It's about a 20-minute drive from the city center to Sapporo Bankei Ski Area, which offers 17 courses ranging from basic to advanced. Families and travelers love Waku Waku Snowland! Every day, night skiing is available until 9:00 PM, providing ample enjoyment after work or school. The courses include a variety of slopes, from easy runs suitable for beginners and vacationing families to those that serve as venues for prestigious international competitions. In the extended Waku Waku Snowland, which is separate from the main slopes, children and visitors can safely enjoy sledding, tube slides, and snow striders. In February 2017, the city hosted the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, which included freestyle ski mogul and snowboard halfpipe competitions.
