Meiho Ski Resort boasts the longest run course in Western Japan. Since there are undulations and S-curves along the course, narrowing of the course and other features, it is popular among veteran skiers seeking opportunities for real challenges.

Meiho Ski Resort has a total of 14 courses, of which 85% are for beginners and intermediate skiers. As a result, it is popular among beginners who can fully enjoy the courses. Since there are courses with a maximum width of 200 meters, even beginners can enjoy leisurely runs without worrying about collisions.

Alongside the long run course, “CHIKEI PARK” is a prominent feature of Meiho Ski Resort. As the name “CHIKEI” (topography) implies, this park maximizes use of the geographic features of the mountain with a peak elevation of 1,600 meters.

In the total of 6 areas, snowboarders congregate to practice jumps, spins, and drift turns. For those snowboarders who want to boost their technique up a notch, be sure to check it out.

SpongeBob Kids’ Park for families to enjoy

Kids’ Park
Meiho’s “SpongeBob Kids’ Park,” the largest in Japan, is built as an annex directly adjacent to the parking lot. Inside the park, which was just renovated in 2017, are a wide assortment of activities including sledding and tubing.

Tubing refers to an activity using the tubes from truck tires to slide over the snow. Riding facing backwards and being flung up into the air lets people experience a different type of thrill separate from skiing.

It is worth noting that admission is free for those with one-day or afternoon lift passes. Rental of sleds and tubes is also free. However, the number is limited, so arriving early is recommended.

A wide variety of Meiho specialty products are sold at the Ski Center at the base of the slopes.

There are a rich assortment of items that can only be purchased here such as “Meiho Ham,” made with only fresh, high quality domestic pork, “Meiho Ketchup,” made from 100% tomato juice, and “Meiho Chicken,” an indispensable part of the local cuisine of Gifu Prefecture.

Chicken cuisine
If you come all the way to Gifu Prefecture, enjoying the local delicacies is one of the real pleasures of travel. At the “Center Restaurant” in the Ski center, you can enjoy some local Gifu cuisine, “Meiho Chicken”.

Meiho Chicken (Torichan) is a unique dish of the Satoyama foothills, made by soaking the chicken in a sauce based on miso and soy sauce, and then grilled together with cabbage, onions, and local vegetables in season.

Meiho Chicken can be sampled on the 2F of the Ski Center, which offers the “Soft-boiled Egg Meiho Chicken Rice Bowl”. The chicken marinated in soy sauce is soft and juicy, which creates an exquisite harmony with the freshly steamed white rice.

When you break open the soft-boiled egg, the egg yolk gives it a mild flavor, and you can experience an explosion of changing flavors.
