As one might expect from the so-called largest ski resort in Western Japan, Dynaland has a great deal of variety when it comes to the types of courses on offer compared to your average ski resort. Combined with those next door at Takasu Snow Park, there are a total of 32 courses on offer. We recommend first checking out Dynaland, filled with courses targeted at beginners, until you get used to the snow before heading over to the more advanced Takasu Snow Park.
Takasu Snow Park is known for having more intermediate and advanced runs targeted at thrill-seekers, and most of the skiers and boarders on its slopes have past experience with their respective sport. So, beginners who aren’t even sure of how to fall properly may find Takasu Snow Park a little daunting. Make sure to take all the necessary precautions and stay alert when you go out skiing.

In addition to a huge variety of courses, what’s so great about Dynaland’s slopes is how the courses change and develop over the run. Out of the plethora of courses on offer, we definitely recommend checking out the 3,200 meter Paradise A Course. Try your hand down this long course while taking in the gorgeous view the run has to offer.

The clear white snow stretching out before you almost resembles a giant carpet, running down the mountain under the bright blue sky. Look out at the mountains stretching along the horizon right at eye level, and enjoy the clean air and verdure as you zip down the slopes.
Definitely check out this Gifu delicacy at the slope-side cafeteria: Hida Beef Kalbi Bowl
After you’ve enjoyed some skiing or snowboarding down the slopes, why not try some of the local cuisine? If you’re heading to Dynaland, we definitely recommend trying the Hida Beef Kalbi Bowl (JPY 1,500).
Hida beef is Gifu’s own brand of soft, marbled beef and almost seems to melt in your mouth. With a little spicy sauce added, the beef practically explodes with flavor in your mouth every time you chew into it. This is one dish perfect for reinvigorating you to get back out on the slopes.
There are plenty of other places offering local dishes here to try, but one shop that’s particularly popular is Tocoro Coffee and their famous Black Coffee Ice Cream. On top of their rich coffee ice cream are finely ground coffee beans, making for quite the pick-me-up treat. The soft texture of the ice cream along with the crunchy, finely ground beans and the slight bitterness all make for a snack like you’ve never had. Coffee drinkers will certainly get a kick out of it. Their vanilla is also a good choice for rejuvenating skiers to get back out on the mountain.
